Bamboo is one of the fastest-growing plants, capable of growing up to 91 cm (35 inches) per day. Its life cycle is a miracle of nature—it absorbs five times more carbon dioxide and produces 35% more oxygen than similar trees, promoting new growth and rich biodiversity. Even better- it's stronger than concrete by weight, won't bend like aluminium poles, and won't snap like carbon fiber poles....it's just BETTER. Aluminium poles come with a hefty carbon cost. Aluminium production contributes to 2% of global greenhouse gas emissions due to the intense energy required for refinement. We've minimized aluminium usage and use recycled material when there is no suitable alternative, because settling for less isn't in our playbook.
Revolutionizing Cork Usage
Wine corks often end up discarded, but we've reinvented them into robust grips for many of our poles. They are macerated into cork chop then infused with pliable rubber in our molds. In transforming waste into a functional asset, we're not just avoiding harm; we're innovating solutions that work, providing comfort and performance in a unique way.
Revamping Leather Sourcing
Our commitment to sustainability is evident in every part of our poles, including the leather. Most of our top-grain leather is sourced from the American beef industry. Utilizing the natural (and unused) hides from our food industry, we upcycle a valuable product. The leather is then traditionally veg-tanned, avoiding the harsh chemicals associated with chrome tanning, which is notorious for causing environmental damage. Veg-tanning uses natural vegetable tannins, giving our leather straps a beautiful finish and supple texture while being gentle on the earth.
